Wendy, my sister Dorothy, and I drove to the State of Washington last weekend for a family and class reunion. Wendy and I stayed at Dorothy’s place in Ogden Thursday night, May 28th, after our regular day working in the Provo temple. On Friday morning, we drive by the cemetery in north Ogden where our Mom and Dad are buried and left flowers. It was a beautiful morning with the sun shining on the snow on Ben Lomond in the background. We drove on to Boise ID where we stopped and did a session at the temple there in the afternoon, then continued as far as Pendleton OR where we got a motel room and spent the night.
On Saturday, we finished the last 4 hours of the trip to Glenwood WA where Dorothy had made reservations at the little motel, Shade Tree Inn. We dropped in at Lorene’s place for a little while in the afternoon, then visited with a number of old acquaintances at a class reunion at the Grange Hall that Lois Dechand had organized. (A larger gathering of younger Glenwood HS grads was occurring at the rodeo grounds.) [See pictures of old classmates on later blog.] During the night at about 5 am, it was our adventure to have the toilet in our motel room overflow which flooded that end of the motel room (floor, carpet) with ½ an inch of water. We sopped the water up as best we could with the towel supply, and went back to sleep. First thing in the morning, we were able to trade to a different room, to let the management dry out and clean up. By the way, some Native Americans from the nearby Yakima tribe seem now to own and be running both the motel and café.
On Sunday morning, we attended church meetings in the Glenwood Community Church [more on this later], then went back to Lorene’s for the Lewis family reunion. We saw lots of cousins. There were Lorene and her children Kathleen (her daughter Lynette and her two daughters Krista and ) and Warren (with his wife Vicky and six children), five of Virginia’s children (Maurice and a daughter Aisling, Barbara, Dennis and a son Conner, Karen Coates and her husband David with a tiny grandson, and Maureen Williams and he

and Timothy, Edna’s son Terry and his wife, and Grace’s daughter Marylin, in addition to our Clarence Lewis party. (I am very unhappy with myself for forgetting to get the camera out and take pictures.) Late in the afternoon after people left the reunion we drove to the Glenwood Mt. Adams Cemetery to visit family graves and then drove to Trout Lake to visit the graves of Wallace, Grace and Evelyn Davis. We also got cell phone service at the summit of the Trout Lake-Glenwood highway, and called home to our home teacher to find out that our new Spanish Fork Ward Bishop was Mark West, with Brad Cobb and Lynn Hunter as Counselors. On Monday morning we had breakfast at the little café in Glenwood with Harry and Lois, then headed east. We drove about 8 hours and got a motel in Twin Falls ID.
On Tuesday at 11:30 am, we attended a session at the Twin Falls temple. What a beautiful little temple, with an amazing mural of the Shoshone Falls in the ordinance room. At the suggestion of one of the workers, we drove 3 miles out of town and spent a few minutes admiring the real Shoshone Falls, with tremendous waterfall at near flood stage on the Snake River. We arrived back at Dorothy’s about 6 pm, and home at 10 (we stopped at Alison’s for a few minutes).
