Steps in Reconversion

     According to a recent Deseret magazine article, Don Bradley was a religious historian and scholar, who had been raised in the Church but who somehow lost his faith at about age 29 but recently regained it.  He left the Church for a time but has now returned in full faith.  As he describes his return, there were four progressive steps and insights that were stages in his reconversion:
1. An awareness of how infinitesimal were the odds that the earth and life upon it could have existed by chance, and God’s existence was the most convincing explanation.
2. At the time of the death of a dear relative, reconnecting to Christ as the source of a universal resurrection.
3. Recognizing Joseph Smith as a sincere seeker after truth and a magnanimous soul.
4. Experiencing that forgiveness, love, and fellowship are basic in the Lord’s Church.
