Goals for Family

When JoAnn and I got engaged and were first married, we both recognized that there were religious deficiencies in the homes in which we each were raised.  Without disrespecting the efforts of our own parents, we articulated Church-related goals for our own home:
         To be 100 percenters in the Church
         As much as possible to be givers, rather than takers
         To be a part of the solution, not the problem, for our leaders
         To not be on our Church-leaders’ problem list

As I recall, JoAnn got a lot of her motivation for these goals from the example of women in her ward who had worked with her in the Young Womens’ program.  She stated that she wanted her home and family to be “just like those of my Young Womens’ leaders.”
