The monsoons are upon us

(2 pm) I used to think that monsoons only happened in the tropics, but the weatherman last night said this is monsoon season in Utah (the last two weeks of August). A tropical storm off the west coast of Mexico is pumping up warm moist air to this area.  As the day heats up, big dark clouds develop.  By evening, there is lightning, thunder, and rainfall, light in some places but very heavy in others.  Yesterday we had sprinkles but northern Utah County got dumped on.

(5 pm) the clouds are a lot heavier and some rain has fallen.

(8 pm) Look at the sunset.
